Robert Hamilton
Robert (Bob) Hamilton was born in Glasgow, Scotland, 19 June 1865, died 28 Feb 1955 Flagler CO, fl, married 23 Aug 1887 Hackett City, AK to Margaret Wooden (Maggie) Heatherington, born 06 May 1861, Kilbride, Scotland, died 1 Mar 1934, St Johns Park, Flagler CO, FL. Both are buried Eden Cemetery, Crescent City, Putnam CO, FL.
The family is listed on page 28 of the 1920 census of Flagler County with his occupation given as "Farmer General."
They had each migrated to the United States while in their teens, met and were married in the Midwest Indian Territory, which later became the state of Oklahoma. They traveled to Oregon in a covered wagon and resided in Susanville, and while in Oregon he helped start the Pendleton Roundup in Pendleton.
In 1905 the family moved to Palouse, Washington, driving a herd of horses from Oregon. However the severe winter cold was too much for their son and after his having pneumonia three times they decided to seek a warmer climate.
In response to an advertisement of the St. Johns Development Company, Mr. Hamilton came to Flagler County and purchased some land and returned to Washington for his family. On his return he brought a car load of horses. On 13 Jan 1913 the family, consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton, Bert and Annie, arrived by train at Bunnell. They built their home on Big Haw Creek.
He served a term as County Commissioner from Haw Creek District 1919-1920 then when district lines were redrawn he served two terms as County Commissioner from St. Johns Park District 1935-1939. He was a road superintendent for the county for several years.
Bob was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a member of Lodge No. 25, IOOF. They were the parents of three children;

Robert Thomas (Bert) Hamilton, married 2nd, 16 Jan 1927, Haw Creek, Flagler CO, FL by Rev David Sargent, Cora Leotah Benson, dau of George Royal Benson Sr and Bertha Almeda Elliott, born 10 Mar 1898, WI, died 25 Dec 1932, St Johns Park, Flagler CO, FL. They had two daughters, Leotah Margaret and Kathryn Faith.
Robert Thomas (Bert) Hamilton married 3rd, 04 Mar 1941, Court House, Flagler CO, FL by Judge H A Eisenbach, Naomi Stevens, dau of Alexander Hamilton Stevens and Sarah Eula Hamlin, born 08 Jul 1890, Rockmill, Randolph CO, AL, died 26 Feb 1960, Baptist Hospital, Jacksonville, Duval CO, FL ( Div).
